Vienna, Austria – 21 June 2017: The European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA) announced today that its scientific congress will become an annual event from 2018.

Save the date: 18–20 March 2018 in Barcelona

“The yearly EHRA Congress will provide European and worldwide electrophysiologists with an impressive educational programme and new insights in the field of electrophysiology,” said Professor Christophe Leclercq, Congress Scientific Programme Chair of EHRA 2018.

As a registered branch of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC), EHRA is the leading network for European cardiac rhythm management. EHRA’s aim is to improve quality of life by reducing the impact of cardiac rhythm disturbances and reducing sudden cardiac death. The yearly congress will be an important activity towards meeting this aim.

As of 2018, EHRA Congress will be a yearly event that takes place in March instead of June. The 2018 edition will be held in Barcelona, Spain from 18 to 20 March.

The congress will emphasise educational and interactive sessions which include mobile application and digital voting, plus more live cases in electrophysiology. Summits will be held on cardiac mapping, ventricular tachycardia, and lead management.

Original science will be presented in the dedicated abstract sessions, while other sessions will focus on heart failure. Sessions of particular interest to young electrophysiologists will be highlighted as a special track.

Professor Helmut Puererfellner, EHRA scientific programme vice-chairperson, said: “Delegates will enjoy a first class scientific programme enriched by high quality training to cope with all sorts of arrhythmias in clinical practice. EHRA Congress 2018 promises to be a stimulating experience in one of the most beautiful cities in Europe.”
